Bangladesh Forms High Level Cabinet Committee to Finalise Cyber Security Law Overhaul

The government has constituted a five member cabinet committee to review and finalise the draft of the Cyber Security (Amendment) Act, 2026.

According to a press release issued by the Press Information Department (PID) on Wednesday, Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam has been appointed convener of the committee.

The panel has been entrusted with examining the proposed legislation and submitting its recommendations before the draft is finalised.

The committee also comprises Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman.

The PID said the Cabinet Division has already issued the official notification constituting the committee.

The formation of the panel marks the latest step in the government’s effort to finalise amendments to the country’s cyber security legislation before it moves forward for approval.
